Jaco fishing charter questions
Can I book a half-day or full-day charter?
Yes. Most boats run both half-day and full-day trips. Half days work well for inshore fishing and families, while full days are best for offshore fishing.
Where do the fishing boats leave from?
Most Jaco-area boats depart from nearby Herradura Bay or the Los Sueños area. We confirm the exact meeting point for your boat when you book, and can help arrange private transportation from your hotel.
How many people can go on a fishing charter?
It depends on the boat. Compact boats take 4 to 5 guests, offshore sportfishers 6 to 7, and our private yachts up to 8, 10 or 12 guests. Tell us your group size and we’ll recommend the right boat.
Should I book an inshore or offshore trip?
Choose offshore for sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi. Choose inshore for roosterfish, cubera snapper, jacks and grouper. Your date and goals help decide the better option.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Every angler on board needs a Costa Rica fishing license. We explain how to get yours when we confirm your boat.
What is included in a fishing charter?
All charters are private, with captain, crew and fishing equipment. Drinks, snacks and other inclusions vary by boat, so we confirm them when you book.
